More Framing!

It's beginning to resemble a house! This past week has been so much fun to go and see what's happening at the build. The crew has been working in the sweltering heat with temps in the 100s...we are so appreciative of their hard work! Here's what we have now!

All framed up, except for the master bedroom and garage.

 Looking towards kitchen.

Front porch -- not yet poured.

 Kitchen Pantry

Mud Room/Drop Zone and Half Bath

Down the stairs -- love the big window!

Where the front door will be -- We'll have side lights all around the front door.

Dining room area and door to back deck

Master bedroom area, not yet framed.

Carter's room and closet

The next day, they had the garage framed up...

 Front porch was poured...

 Coat closet framed....

 Master bedroom framed....

 And the fireplace framed up!

A look inside of the garage -- it's flipping huge. Could fit 5 cars.

The next day, they had the double bay of the garage framed...

And started on the ceiling joists. This is the 10 foot bump up in the dining room! Love!

And here's the 10 foot bump up in our master bedroom.

The crew is waiting on the trusses, so hopefully we'll see what the vaulted ceiling in the living room will look like soon!

Foundation of a dream

We are so dang excited. Forms were put up on Monday, the walls were poured yesterday, and today they took off the forms to reveal along with the entire basement. I'll tell ya....we are learning a whole lot about this building process. Getting schooled in home building for sure.

I'm picturing the fun times we'll have in the playroom, the bar area (wine anyone?). Ironic that we have a wet bar next to the playroom? Carefully planned, my friends. Soon, very soon.

No, It's a Backhoe.

Carter sure is having fun seeing all the trucks and equipment at the building site. He even corrected me this morning on the way to work as we drove by when I called the backhoe a bulldozer. Silly me. "No, it's a backhoe, momma".

Progress today! We have footings for the basement! Hopefully the forms will be set tomorrow and we'll have walls tomorrow or the next day! Little by little...

Breaking Ground

Today was awesome. Not only was it a Friday....but it was GROUND BREAKING DAY! I drove Carter by the lot around 8:00 this morning before we went to work and he was just getting started. Carter LOVED seeing the "bull bulldozer" as he calls it. They were finished digging around 12:30! So nice to finally get things rolling!

This side will need to be built up a bit...the lot slopes down this way.

Carter loved walking in the big hole!

Our Floor Plans...

Our builder showed us a plan we loved, and from there, we made changes to fit our lifestyle. I L-O-V-E the "drop zone" which will be a mudroom with cubbies and storage. Also loving the open concept, I think it will meet our needs perfectly.

Basement will be framed, and we will finish in a couple of years:

Before....

Here's a picture of our plot of land....we purchased this in August 2011. Can't wait to get going on the house! It is staked out and ready for digging the basement -- hopefully later this week!! EEK!
