Oh, Hello There

Long time, no blog?! Wanna know why? We've been at a stand still for FOUR WEEKS people. And I'm sorry, I know I need to work on being more patient..... but I'm just not so patient with this. I'm ready to get a move on this house and get it built already.  So GRRRRRRRR!

So anyway...I left off with our foundation being poured. We have a foundation and concrete floors, and even a garage floor. But that's it. (sadface) We've been waiting on the framers to get on with the rest of the work. They had another job to finish before us...which is not just fine, but seriously!

Anyway, pics of the foundation and the loverly garage soon. The good news is.....wood got delivered to our site yesterday and as I type, they should be working on getting it all laid out. We're hoping for some real progress tomorrow.

So in the meantime, I've been daydreaming of decor and interior design. Paint colors....accessories...rugs....linens...I could go on and on. I have this vision of light and airy and clean....white woodwork, dark floors, pops of bright color...modern with a touch of vintage and rustic.

My sister is getting married next summer and is having a rustic style wedding, so she got me into antiquing. I've found some really cool pieces that I'm going to incorporate into our new home. So during these past FOUR WEEKS (ok I'm over it) I've been refinishing some of these pieces. This will add some of that vintage appeal that I love.

How fun is this mirror?? My mom actually got this one for me. I was telling her I really wanted to find an ornate oval mirror and she stumbled upon this in a deli bathroom of all places. And one thing I just LOVE about my mom, she's not afraid to ask for what she wants and she convinced to owners to sell it to her. LOVE! It was a goldish color, but not for long! I primed and spray painted it white, then scuffed up some places with sandpaper. I think this will look cute in our half bath or maybe even as a piece to a gallery wall if we take the mirror out. Lots of possibilities.

This mirror, I found at a local antique shop. It was just calling my name. Very shabby chic. It was a gold, but took only minutes for this upgrade. A little sanding and it still has that rustic charm.

Next post should include some framing progress! FINALLY!
