Dusty Floors

So at work lately I've been busy daydreaming about the house and decorating! Now that we are getting some important fixtures in our house, it's easier to visualize!

Yesterday, our builder starting in on installing the flooring. We went with a nice wood laminate, as we have a 100+ pound dog and we wanted hardwood, but didn't want it to be scratched. I have taken a key to a sample of the laminate and couldn't make a scratch. It's a great solution for our family now. And, it looks absolutely incredible!

It really adds warmth and richness with the cool gray walls!

Our main open area looks so much bigger now!

This is where our dining table will go.

Workers also continued to work on the exterior stone. They started the pillars and are finishing the garage peak. The stonework should be completed today.

Lots Happening This Week!

A lot of people said that house building would be stressful....yeah maybe a little bit, but it's mostly just plain FUN! This week is the best yet! Cabinets are in, installed, flooring goes in this week, the exterior will be stoned and painted. EEK! So much fun!

Last week, we got the driveway and sidewalk poured. Carter said it's his to park all of his cars on and "we need a trike" to ride in the driveway. :)

So here's the updated fireplace with no scaffolding destroying the view. BEAUTEOUS! Our builder added some amazing crown to the top of the windows which I think really dresses up the area. Great focal point when you enter our home!

Cabinets were delivered on Monday and installed yesterday! I'm so stinking excited! Here's one teaser pic until they are all in place. I'm in love! I really need to make sure I bring in my real camera to get some better quality pics!

Rollin' Right Along

Isn't it PERFECT?!

I can't wait to see it all finished! It's going to be so awesome to warm my toesies by this in a couple months!

So hard to get accurate paint color pics with my iPhone....but Carter is just THRILLED with the light blue. The painters made an oops first and painted it gray and Carter said, "But I told the workers BLUE!" haha :)

Gray by the entry....

This is actually a pretty accurate picture...going down the stairs.

Master Bath

Carter's bedroom

Imagine it covered in stacked stone. Oooh lala.

I didn't get any pics of when they were nicely mud and taped, but those guys did a REALLY good job. And amazingly fast. They had the whole place done in 2 weeks!

Now we move on to the fun stuff....paint!

Master bedroom -- SW Storm Cloud. Very moody and fun, love it!

Very bummed I didn't get a pic of the gray....it's a perfect gray!

Yesterday they started on the stone work. Will look lovely with the Summit Gray siding.

Paint, Tile, and Lighting!

Busy weekend over here! We picked out paint, tile and bought all of the lights for the whole house. Woot! Feeling very accomplished over here!

SW Essential Gray -- What the majority of the house will be...a nice gray with a hint of taupe

SW Soar - Carter's bedroom, a sweet light blue to match his new airplane bedding

SW Storm Cloud - A moody blueish gray. LOVE this and matches our new bedding awesome. We'll lighten the room up with white curtains.

On to tile. This was a real headache for me. It's so hard to piece all of the things together -- fixtures, trim, vanity, countertop, etc. We came up with some great choices though!

We will be doing the bottom left (dark charcoal) for the floor of our master bath. We'll be doing 6x24 inch tiles...looks super sharp!

This tile will be used in our master walk in shower. It comes in a variety of sizes, so  we can mix it up for a really fun look!

Slate looking tile without the maintenance -- we'll use this in the entryway and mud room.

We chose a very basic light gray tile for our laundry room and hall bath. I feel much better having these decisions behind us!!

Mudding and taping is coming along and it will be done by Friday, we will start painting after Labor Day!!

Exterior materials.

It's so hard piecing stuff together and hoping the final product is something you love!

Here is what we are thinking for the exterior....

SIDING - Sherwin Williams Summit Gray
SHUTTERS and DOOR - Sherwin Williams Naval
STONE - Kentucky Cutface by Centurion.

For the fireplace inside, we'll do the same color of stone, only stacked and not cutface.

Does this go?? We have charcoal black shingles.

P.S. As of yesterday our house is completely sheet rocked and mudding/taping has started. Major updates coming!
